My name is James Smyda and Searching The Scriptures is my personal website.  I grew up from birth in the Worldwide Church of God.  I attended Ambassador College in Big Sandy, TX and graduated with a B.A. in Theology in 1992.  In 1995, I left the Worldwide Church of God due to the major doctrinal changes the organization was making.  In 2010, I was ordained as an Elder of Jesus Christ, and I happily serve brethren in multiple countries around the world regardless of what Church of God organization they chose to affiliate themselves with. 

This website is not intended to be a Church of God organization. It is intended to be an educational resource to assist brethren in their study of the word of God.  My understanding of the word of God has grown over the years.  As a result, some of the older sermons included on this website may contain some references that do not totally reflect my current understanding of scripture.  Noting the date a sermon was originally given will typically explain any apparent contradictions with the information presented on this website.
